Does every Maine homeowner qualify for a heat pump rebate?
The any-income tier does not require income qualification, but the home, equipment, system design, installation and claim must satisfy the current Efficiency Maine requirements. Enhanced moderate- and low-income rebates require eligibility verification.
Can a multi-zone heat pump receive the rebate?
Under the current program, multi-zone heat pumps are not rebate-eligible outdoor units. They may count toward the home's total heating capacity when a qualifying whole-home system is designed.
Can I keep my existing furnace or boiler?
Existing primary heating equipment may generally remain for emergency backup when configured according to current program requirements. BANN will review the proposed design and current Efficiency Maine rules with you.
Is the federal home EV charger tax credit still available?
No. The federal residential credit ended for charging property placed in service after June 30, 2026. Efficiency Maine's separate $400 off-peak charger incentive remains available subject to its current terms and funding.
Does BANN handle the rebate paperwork?
BANN completes the contractor documentation and helps coordinate the rebate process for qualifying installations. Homeowner eligibility verification and final program approval remain subject to Efficiency Maine's requirements.
Can rebates be combined with financing?
Financing may be available for qualified customers. The available financing structure and how it works with an incentive depend on the project and current program terms.
