Maine homeowners can still stack multiple incentives to reduce the cost of a home EV charger installation — but the window is closing fast. The federal tax credit expires June 30, 2026. ⚠️  Up to $1,000 — Federal Tax Credit on Installation (Expires June 30, 2026)

The federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit (Section 30C) covers up to 30% of the cost of your EV charger equipment and installation — up to $1,000 for homeowners. To qualify your charger must be installed and operational before June 30, 2026. Eligibility is also based on your census tract — your home must be in a qualifying low-income or non-urban area. We can help you check eligibility when you call for your estimate. This credit is claimed on IRS Form 8911 at tax time.

✅  $400 off — Efficiency Maine Off-Peak Charger Discount

Purchase your charger directly through Efficiency Maine and save $400 — $200 off at the time of purchase and an additional $200 after you complete the setup. The charger is available through Efficiency Maine for $129 instead of the standard retail price. Note: this is a customer-supplied charger. BANN will install it to meet all Efficiency Maine requirements but the charger itself is not covered under our workmanship guarantee.

✅  $100 + Ongoing Savings — Efficiency Maine Managed Charging Program

Enroll your qualifying smart charger in Efficiency Maine’s Managed Charging program and receive $50 at enrollment plus $50 each year you continue to participate. The program automatically delays charging until off-peak hours — typically 10 PM to 6 AM — when electricity rates are at their lowest, saving you money on every charge.

✅  Up to $8,000 — Efficiency Maine EV Vehicle Rebate (Income-Eligible Households)

If you are purchasing a new electric vehicle and meet Efficiency Maine’s income eligibility requirements, you may qualify for an EV vehicle rebate of up to $6,000 (moderate income, AGI up to $100,000 joint filers) or $8,000 (low income). To qualify, you must purchase and install an Efficiency Maine off-peak charger at your home before signing for the vehicle. Note: federal EV vehicle purchase tax credits of $7,500 were eliminated by the federal government in September 2025 and are no longer available for new purchases.

2. Buy your charger through Efficiency Maine. Visit efficiencymaine.com to purchase your qualifying off-peak Level 2 charger at the discounted price of $129. Save $200 instantly at checkout. Important: if you plan to buy a new EV and want the Efficiency Maine vehicle rebate, you must buy and install the charger before purchasing the vehicle.
3. Schedule your installation with BANN. We assess your panel, run the dedicated 240V circuit, and mount and wire your charger to meet all Efficiency Maine installation requirements. We handle the permit and inspection.
4. We provide your documentation. We give you everything you need to claim your $200 setup rebate, enroll in the Managed Charging program, and support your federal tax credit claim on IRS Form 8911.
5. Collect your savings. Your rebates are processed, your federal tax credit is ready for tax time, and your charger is enrolled for ongoing managed charging savings.

Important: Buy the Charger Before You Buy the Vehicle

If you are planning to purchase a new electric vehicle and want to qualify for Efficiency Maine’s EV vehicle rebate, you must purchase and install your off-peak charger before signing for the vehicle. What Changed with Federal Incentives in 2025–2026

In July 2025, the federal government eliminated several clean energy tax credits through the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Here is a plain-language summary of what changed:

Federal EV vehicle purchase credit ($7,500): Eliminated. No longer available for vehicles purchased after September 30, 2025.

• Federal used EV credit ($4,000): Eliminated. No longer available for vehicles purchased after September 30, 2025.
• Federal EV charger installation credit (up to $1,000): Still available but expires June 30, 2026. Must be installed in a qualifying census tract. Act now.
• Efficiency Maine EV vehicle rebates (up to $8,000): Still available for income-eligible Maine residents. Not a federal program — unaffected by federal changes.
• Efficiency Maine off-peak charger discount ($400): Still available. Not a federal program — unaffected by federal changes.
